About

About me.

I’ve had over a decade of sewing experience, including in the professional world as a contract seamstress.

Introducing Sparkle Sew Co.

One afternoon in 2009, I dug my aunt’s old sewing machine she’d given me out of the back of my closet with the idea that I might fill some empty hours. Even though I’d grown up with my mom sewing anything and everything for me, I’d never tried to understand the process. Using the manual for the (to me) archaic machine I decided to sew a pair of Halloween pajamas for my son. Lots of trial and error was involved but I was absolutely hooked. It was a pivotal moment in my life where I was up all night excitedly thinking about the pattern I was sewing. An epiphany that this was something I loved hit me that day, just as abrupt as a cliche from a movie.

My First Sewing Project

Now, 15 years later I have quite a bit of experience under my belt. I’ve worked as a contract seamstress for a company for a few years, sewn endlessly for my five children, and delved into the world of dance costuming. Some of my favorite things to sew are bags, coats, and dresses for unique events. Even though I initially began sewing “from scratch” patterns, I love helping families out with their alterations for costumes to make their moments on stage shine. Eventually the alteration requests were enough that I’ve set up a business inspired by the years I’ve spent steeped in rhinestones and glitter for the competitive dance world. My hope is to use the love of sewing that I have to assist those in need of the skill to achieve the look/fit they need.
